Hardware and network requirements

If your laptop sounds like a jet engine, you may have issues...

Because Jugo runs inside Zoom, your Jugo requirements are basically Zoom requirements (plus the usual “please don’t run 47 Chrome tabs” reality).

Recommended setup (best experience)

Hardware

  • CPU: Quad-core 2.5GHz+ recommended

  • RAM: 16GB recommended (4GB minimum)

  • Camera & audio: Built-in or USB webcam, plus speakers + microphone (headphones recommended to avoid echo)

Operating system (Zoom desktop app)

  • Windows: Windows 10 or 11

  • Mac: macOS 10.13+

  • (Zoom also supports several Linux distros - see Zoom’s list if you’re on Linux.)

Minimums (it’ll run... just don’t expect miracles)

  • CPU: Dual-core 2.0GHz+

  • RAM: 4GB

Network requirements (the bit that usually bites)

Zoom automatically adapts quality based on your connection, but these are Zoom’s recommended bandwidth figures:

Meetings / webinar panelists

  • 1:1 video

    • High quality: 600 kbps up/down

    • 720p: 1.2 Mbps up/down

    • 1080p: 3.8 / 3.0 Mbps up/down

  • Group video

    • High quality: 1.0 Mbps down / 600 kbps up

    • 720p: 2.6 Mbps down / 1.8 Mbps up

    • 1080p: 3.8 / 3.0 Mbps up/down

  • Gallery view receiving: 2.0 Mbps (25 views), 4.0 Mbps (49 views)

Screen sharing

  • Screen share only (no video thumbnail): 50–75 kbps

  • Screen share with video thumbnail: 50–150 kbps

“Is my network actually okay?” (quick check)

Zoom has a Network Connectivity Tool that tests things like latency, jitter, and packet loss to Zoom’s servers. If your video/audio is choppy, this is a good first sanity check.

Practical “don’t suffer” recommendations

  • Use wired Ethernet if you can (or sit closer to the router)

  • Avoid VPNs during sessions if your policy allows (they can add latency)

  • Close heavy background stuff (cloud sync, downloads, streaming, 4K YouTube in 3 other tabs)

  • Conduct a speed test on your network - this will provide you with your upload and download speeds which can be useful for confugiring video quality
